Prof. Dr. Pınar Uyan Semerci

Prof. Dr. Pınar Uyan Semerci is a faculty member at Istanbul Bilgi University, Department of International Relations. Since 2007, she has been the director of the Center for Migration Research. At the same university and since 2017 she has been the dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities. Her research interests include political philosophy, comparative politics, social policy and methodology in social sciences. She has conducted many research projects and published articles and books on justice, rights, citizenship, human development, capability approach, poverty, migration, collective identity formations, marginalization, polarization, child labor and child well-being.
Prof. Dr. Emre Erdoğan

Prof. Dr. Emre Erdoğan is a political scientist with research interests in political participation, foreign policy, public opinion, child and youth well-being, methodology and statistics. His research interests include youth in Türkiye, integration of Syrian refugees, marginalization, polarization and populism. He actively participates in research projects, serves as a reviewer, and is the editor-in-chief of Istanbul Bilgi University Press and editor of REFLEKTİF Journal of Social Sciences. He is involved in different COST Actions, H2020 and Erasmus projects.
Dr. Başak Akkan

Dr. Başak Akkan is a faculty member at Istanbul Bilgi University, Department of International Relations. Before joining Istanbul Bilgi University, she taught at the Social Policy Graduate Program at Boğaziçi University and worked at the Social Policy Forum. She holds a PhD in interdisciplinary social sciences from Utrecht University, an MA in European Social Policy from the London School of Economics, and a BA in Sociology from Boğaziçi University. Her research interests include theories of justice with a focus on intersectional inequalities, care regimes, comparative social policy and child well-being studies. She is involved in national and international research projects and has numerous publications in these fields.
Gözde Durmuş

Gözde Durmuş has been working at Istanbul Bilgi University Child Studies Unit (ÇOÇA) since 2008 and is currently the department coordinator. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Boğaziçi University and a Master’s degree in Cultural Studies from Istanbul Bilgi University. Her primary areas of interest are child rights education, child well-being, child labor and child participation. She provides consultancy to different institutions in the field of children’s rights. She has taken part in the content development and writing team of many materials prepared for children and with children on children’s rights. She has lectured as a part-time lecturer at Istanbul Bilgi University on topics such as “Child Policies” and “Social Responsibility”. She is a graduate of Istanbul Bilgi University Cultural Studies Master’s Program.
Özlem As Koçbaş

Özlem As Koçbaş graduated from Marmara University, Faculty of Communication, Department of Radio-Television and Cinema. She worked as a reporter and editor in various newspapers, magazines and corporate communication agencies. She received her master’s degree from Istanbul University New Media and Communication Management program. She is currently a PhD student at Istanbul University, Department of Public Relations, and Publicity. Her research interests include political economy of media, new media, synthetic media, digital communication, artificial intelligence and communication.
Gökçe Uysal Gündoğdu

She graduated from Istanbul Bilgi University, Departments of TV Journalism and Programming and International Relations. She worked as content development coordinator, visual content producer, project specialist, project coordinator in non-governmental organizations working for children. While completing her master’s degree in Media and Communication Studies at Galatasaray University, she worked in the field of children’s rights and took part in the BİLGİ Child Studies Unit team. She is a PhD student in Political Science at Istanbul Bilgi University. She is currently working as a project coordinator in a project aiming to strengthen the capacity of women and children’s civil society organizations in the field of child studies.
Ahmet Usanmaz

Ahmet Usanmaz completed his associate degree in occupational health and safety and his bachelor’s and master’s degree in sociology. He volunteered in different non-governmental organizations, foundations and associations. He is currently continuing his doctoral studies at Mersin University, Department of Sociology. Her research interests include poverty and education of children and youth, daily life practices, job search and unemployment experiences of higher education graduates. She has academic studies on child and youth education, international migration and sociological theories.
Fatmanur Parlak

Fatmanur Parlak completed her undergraduate studies in Political Science and International Relations and Sociology at Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University. She worked as a foreign news editor and content writer for various media channels and agencies. She is currently pursuing her master’s degree in International Relations at Istanbul Bilgi University. Her research interests include foreign policy, international migration, media, sociology and international relations.
